Hog Confinement

It has been our goal to support efforts to clean up Clear Lake, one of the state's few natural lakes. We are part of a large, cooperative effort which includes the state of Iowa, Cerro Gordo County, the cities of Ventura and Clear Lake, the Association for the Preservation of Clear Lake, the CLEAR Project, Lake Action and other participating businesses, individuals and organizations which are working to improve this natural resource.

We are grateful for the taxpayer dollars committed to the cleanup of this important state resource and we feel it's our responsibility to help ensure it is a good investment. A hog confinement facility and manure sites have been proposed near the Clear Lake watershed. We have significant concern about the detrimental impact this could have on the lake, tourism and property values of farms, homes and businesses in this area.

We encourage you to get informed on the issues and contact your state legislator regarding this issue.

Thank you.
